Hartville Pet Insurance is a brand of Crum & Forster Pet Insurance Group, which was previously known as Hartville Pet Insurance Group through its licensed agency. In 2006, the pet insurance products were underwritten by United States Fire Insurance Company, a subsidiary of Crum & Forster based in Morristown, New Jersey. Crum & Forster Pet Insurance Group was acquired by United States Fire Insurance Company in 2013, and in 2017 the name was changed to Crum & Forster Pet Insurance Group. Founded in 1997, Crum & Forster Pet Insurance Group is among the original pet insurance providers. In 2006, they became the exclusive partner of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in the pet insurance industry, and in 2017, they launched stand-alone health coverage for horses under the ASPCA Pet Health Insurance brand.
