Quadracci, the founder of Quad/Graphics, experienced frustration due to rising medical costs and numerous complaints about medical claims and the quality of care for his 9,000 employees. This led him to seek a more reliable and efficient healthcare solution, resulting in the creation of QuadMed, which opened its first clinic in 1991 at Quad/Graphics’ Pewaukee, Wisconsin plant. By establishing an in-house primary care system, QuadMed effectively eliminated excess costs and bureaucracy associated with traditional healthcare. The initiative focused on providing nearly all primary healthcare services directly, leading to extraordinary results. As QuadMed's success became known, other companies sought its expertise in creating and managing onsite health and wellness programs, delivering accessible, affordable, and high-quality healthcare for employees.
