Ira Koretsky, our founder, was stationed at Fort Ord in Monterey, California from 1990 to 1992, serving as both the PAO and CIO at Silas B. Hays Army Hospital. After moving back to the east coast shortly after his service in the U.S. Army, he knew he would eventually return to Northern California. In 2000, after completing his MBA at the University of Maryland Robert H. Smith School of Business, he felt the strong pull of the region. At that time, Monster and Dice were the leading career sites, and he posted his resume online, indicating his willingness to relocate to Northern California. Five months later, he was driving across the United States for the fourth time to begin his new chapter, working in a lively area of San Francisco on 2nd Street, near what is known today as Willie May’s Plaza. However, by 2002, the once-thriving high-tech industry had shifted dramatically.
